Call Ya On Tuesday

So I'm super excited and am going to go all PDA on you guys right now. Mariah and I talked on the phone for the first time last night and it was great.

My thoughts before our call:
1. Oh god, what if I don't like her.
2. OH GOD, what if she doesn't like ME!
3. How many Shannon type things will I say that will offend her or will make me sound like a total snob?
4. God, I hope it's not all awkward with lots of dead silence?

My thoughts after our call:
1. This person is meant to be in my life.
2. I'm so glad she has an southern accent.
3. Mariah is really funny!
4. I can't wait for our next call and to get to know her better.

Three thing D said after I told him we spoke:
1. Oh god, you didn't give her your social security number or anything did you?
2. Did it sound like she was calling from Nigeria.
3. She didn't ask you for your credit card number did she?

Now, because I think people do all kinds of strange things while they're on the phone, I will confess the weird things I do.  I'll point out my poor phone etiquette too. They'll be a star next to the things I did while talking to Mariah last night.

*I talk over people (I hate it).  It's not that I don't want to hear what the other person has to say or that I think what I have to say is more important.  It's just that I get so excited sometimes.  I'm like a puppy chasing it's tale.  I also have a tendency of forgetting things so I blurt out whatever’s on my mind immediately.  If I don't, POOF, it's gone.

I go to the restroom.  Number one and two. So that the person I'm talking to doesn't know I'm going to the restroom, I'll either flush the toilet and run out of the room, or, I'll flush the toilet and then run the water at the sink on full blast.

I bathe.

I pluck my chin hair.

I surf the web.

*I talk to my cats in baby voices.

*I pace the house, I just can't seem to sit still while I'm on the phone.

Now I need to know, have you guys chatted on the phone with your best blog buddies? What types of weird stuff do you do while on the phone???

    1. My mom use to rip the phone cord from the wall I'd be chatting for so long when I was in high school. I remember being up until 1AM some mornings. I can't imagine not chatting regularly and for hours with my close friends and family :)

    1. Woohoo, we'll welcome you back on Sunday anytime Steph!

I've alwyas been a phone girl. My best friend growing up moved to VA after her dad passed away so it was our main line of communication. I guess that's what got me started. I can gab for hours :)

  3. Aww Shannon!!! This has me grinning. I was nervous to call you too, and thought it went great. Are you sure the * items are not things I did :) Luckily, we have the same bad habit of talking over the other person...so I think it cancels out!! I hate talking on the phone, but our conversation went so well!! I will be requesting all that information on the second call, that is how we lure you in :) please have it on hand.

  4. I hate talking on the phone to anyone because it never fails, I normally need to pee, and the cat will be bad and my husband interrupts. I much prefer texting and long email chains! When I have to talk, I pace too. Glad you guys took blog friendship to the next level!

    1. Right, without fail the baby voice comes out. I normally don't think twice about it, but it's kinda funny when you're talking to someone you've never talked to before. Thanks so much for stopping by Lisa.

  6. Hahaha the things D said would totally be something my bf would say. Ive only talked to one on the phone and it was business related so it was awkward.

    1. Yeah, it's fair to say that D thinks I'm crazy for emailing/texting and now talking to people from blogland. He just doesn't know what he's missing out on :) Thanks so much for stopping by Brittney!

  7. Woohoo!! So exciting! I'm terrible on the phone, don't know if I can do it. I either talk over the other person, or don't say anything at all. All those thoughts you had before the call? I so would have them to! I would love to meet you and Mariah in person one day - but what if you don't like me? Or I don't like you? Brain, shut up.

  12. Hahaha! Did it sound like she called from Nigeria?? -- That is Hilarious! It's been FOREVER since I talked on the phone with someone who wasn't related to me and I wish I could change that. Talking on the phone with your blogger bestie sounds like such a treat. Ugghh. Why can't I do that every day?
