House Envy, My Old House

Pretty silly being envious of yourself right?  And you may have guessed by now, but I'm not a terribly nostalgic person.  Longing for the past definitely feels odd.  I mean what's the point?  Anyways, I can't explain it, but four years and 3 houses later and I've yet to get over D and I's first home together.  Especially silly because it really wasn't our first home.  That's just how the story goes in my mind and in my heart.
Prior to buying this beauty we lived in D's condo (technically it was my condo too since we were married).  We renovated the condo, we made it our own, we sold it, and we moved on.  We're doing the same now in our current home.  I like(d) both well enough, but they just don't hold that special place in my heart like our Buffalo home does.  I'm hoping someday our current home will will take the reigns, but for now I miss our old house almost daily.

Take a tour down memory lane with me will you.  We put blood sweat and tears (not to mention every last penny) into making this home ours.  Here are a few before and after pictures.

I could go on all night but I'll leave you with these for now.  What do you miss, a memory, a place, a home like me.  I'd love to hear about it.

    1. The weather! This California girl couldn't hack 19 degree temps for months on end. After my second winter I had had enough. It was pretty much the greatest shift in climate imaginable. NY taxes are no joke either. I still miss it though.

    1. Thank you Mariah! We got the most beautiful light in there. The huge windows were definitely amazing! I sometimes think buying a more turn key house (the one were in now) was a mistake for us. There's still plenty to do, but it's just not the same. Although we're older now, so I dont know if our minds and bodies could handle all the work this time around :)

  3. It's beautiful! Buffalo is COLD. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to take it either. I have nostalgia for my little condo. It was soooo tiny!!! But it was mine and my first place on my own that was all mine and that I decorated. I'd never want to live there again though!!

    1. Aw, that must have been hard (having your mom sale your childhood home). I swear by light fixtures, paint and furniture. They can completely transform a place.

  6. Wow, looked like you guys worked super hard but what beautiful rooms! Truly looks like a home. When Bob and I still lived in IL we has a teeny tiny apartment with only a stand up shower and one bedroom but for whatever reason it was one of my favorite places I've ever lived. It was only a 2 minute walk to the library, river bank, and an ice cream shop. I have the best memories there! Not exactly sure why but that apt sounds like my Buffalo home. :)
