I Confess, I Don't Read Your Posts

Hi guys!  I thought I'd jump back into the swing of things with a confession post.  Don't hate me, but if you're blogging about the following, I'm rolling on by you (for the day at least).

First up, anything having to do with Birchbox or Groopdealz.  Both are HUGE in the blogging community and I just don't get it.  What am I missing?

Source
Book reviews.  I'm kinda scared to put this one out there because some of my favorite bloggers write book reviews.  I just find that for me, they're all so boring!!!  Maybe it's my short attention span, but this is just one of those things I need to hear about in person.

Posts about your child's birthday party, unless of course it's their 1st.  I don't have children, I don't hate children either.  I just don't want to hear every little detail about their 7th birthday.

Cupcake or baking recipes where your shit looks all perfect.  You may remember me confessing to have only used my Kitchen Aid stand mixer to make instant pudding.  Yep, totally incompetent in this area and the site of anything like this makes me want to barf.

Now don't go kicking me out of blogland for this one, and I know I was guilty of it once myself, but I no longer read posts with the word Giveaway in the title.  You don't need to lure me in with a prize, in fact, I think prizes are best kept for people who would be there reading without the promise of a chance to win a great giveaway. Just one girls thoughts.

DIY posts.  There's not a crafty bone in this little body and I mean who has time for DIY.

Confess with me now, what types of posts do you blow right on by?

  1. I totally skip over anything with groopdealz in the title. I have shopped on there before and it is an amazing site! But, I don't need to see your top four picks every single Friday (Especially when you are one of 192380183109238 people doing it)!

  2. i love this because i pretty much do the same which makes me a total hypocrite since i have a kid! but i never post about kayla since no one cares about her except me.

i also skip over sponsored posts, any pet posts (where the pet "takes over" on the blog etc). PETS DON'T TALK. although i only read one blogger's pet posts because it's actually pretty clever how she writes it.

  3. I'm pretty guilty of a few of those! I post recipes often but I am a sad sort who can't get her food to look amazing so I always feel like people judge my mess!

  4. I don't read book reviews because...I'd rather just read the book. I'm not the kind of person who needs a good review in order to read a book, I just read anyways. :P

  5. People ask me for book reviews, and I can't bring myself to dedicate a post to one. I'd love to talk about a book with you, or text about it, but writing a post about it just isn't my thing. First of all I don't want to sum it up because I can read that summary on the back of a book jacket and so can you. All that being said, I don't mind reading them though.

I don't want to read about your birchbox just like you don't want to read about my Ipsy. I might show a photo of it on my blog or instagram but I'm not doing a post on it. I will sometimes do an Influenster box or BzzAgent post on weekends because I want more free stuff from them. They're the kinds of posts I don't expect people to read.

I hate all GIFs and will slide right over them and never look at them. They give me motion sickness.

  6. I won't read sponsored posts- that's not why I read blogs. I also skip over most recipes (and all meat recipes- I'm a vegetarian), and most crafts (because I don't have time, and I just don't care). I skip over the "I love my significant other" posts, as well as all kid posts, and some pet posts (not all- I liked your kitties). I also skip over vacation posts because I do get jealous that I can't afford a vacation right now, and I just don't care.

  7. Also, I do not want to be invited to a 7 years old's party. I have limited time off. I'm not spending it with little screamers. I blow through sponsored and giveaway posts too. A) I never win anyways and B) I don't need someone to tell me how wonderful cranberry juice is. I have this one special talent... it's called thinking for myself ;)

  8. Never heard of groopdealz but did Birchbox for a little while before switching over to cleaner make-up...it was ok. Not huge on the giveaway thing either. Also what freaky show/movie is the gif from about making brownie...creepy!
    Welcome Back!

  9. I skip over wedding planning, kid posts and outfit/makeup posts. Weddings and kids aren't relevant to me and I have never cared about fashion and makeup. I also skip the Birchbox/Ipsy posts. I love book reviews because I love reading and am a dork.

  10. Oh my goodness. I think we may be good friends. I agree with all of these! I am over so many different types of post in blog land. So glad you posted this today!

  11. Everyone is so different. One readers skip is another person's must read. I blow off a lot of fashion posts. I follow some fashion bloggers but it's to the point where I don't look at any post because it's always just another outfit. I'm also not a fan of birch box or any other box reviews. I also could care less about cosmetics or beauty products.

  12. Oh yeah - I don't care what you did over the weekend (unless it's relevant and not "so I ate here, and then went to the park, blah blah", kids parties, what I ate Wednesday - yep all those don't get read.

  13. Ha, I don't craft either. I still comment on some posts but if someone shares like 10 of them, I'll probably only comment on 1.

And I always marvel at the people with the perfect homes. I'm all, where's all your crap?

  14. I skip over "book reports" without fail & babies. I get it, your kid is cute, but I don't want to read about them every single day. I also skip right over guest posts if I know it's a guest post from the blurb or title. I know it's an AWESOME way to meet new bloggers, but honestly, I'm reading *your* blog because I like hearing about *you* and not them.

This post had me in stitches laughing!
